Abstract
Place Dome Canada's Detour Lake Mine is a low-grade gold producer loca ted in northeastern Ontario. Production is targeted for 2850 tonnes of ore per day. As reserves and mining areas continued to be found below and far to the west of the shaft (Fig. 1), it became necessary to rev iew and upgrade the materials handling facilities. This paper deals wi th the selection, design and construction of an underground crusher an d conveyor system capable of handling up to 450 tonnes per hour from t he lowest existing level in the mine.
