A copper oxy-chloride superconductor La1.6Sr0.4CaCu2O4+deltaCl2-y is p
repared at ambient pressure using the traditional solid state reaction
method. The structure of the superconductor belongs to the structure
type of 212 cuprate superconductors with the lattice parameters a = 3.
827 Angstrom, c = 19.42 Angstrom and space group I4/mmm. The supercond
ucting transition temperature (T-0) of this material is 34 K, and the
carrier concentration in it is controlled not only by cation substitut
ion, but also by anion substitution.
