Abstract
Hibiscus latent ringspot virus (HLRV) was isolated from kenaf plants ( Hibiscus cannabinus L.) in Italy, and identified as HLRV by its host r ange, purification, electron microscopy and serology. Ultrastructural studies showed that infected plants contained membranous cytoplasmic i nclusion bodies, characteristic of nepoviruses, and sometimes also cry stalline aggregates.
