J. Imatani et al., ACUTE POSTEROLATERAL ROTATORY SUBLUXATION OF THE ELBOW JOINT - A CASE-REPORT, American journal of sports medicine, 25(1), 1997, pp. 77-80
O'Driscoll(9) has well described rotatory instability of the elbow joi
nt as a kinematic pattern. However, there have been no detailed report
s about surgical treatment of acute cases of this instability in the o
rthopaedic literature. This may be because this clinical instability i
n the acute condition is not widely known and can be overlooked. Most
descriptions of the medial ligaments of the elbow are consistent, but
there is less uniformity with regard to the lateral ligaments. We used
the terms advocated by Morrey and An.(4) This article-presents a case
of acute injury of a part of the lateral collateral ligament complex,
specifically, complete rupture of the lateral ulnar collateral ligame
nt. We report the excellent results of operative treatment of this acu
te condition.
