Pleurotus sp. (IARI No. 2572) was grown on groundnut pod shells, pre-t
reated with sulphuric acid, sodium hydroxide and sodium chlorite. All
the pre-treatments were effective in yielding a protein-rich biomass.
Highest protein productivity was found in the fermentation medium, whi
ch apart from mild acid pre-treated substrate, also contained pre-trea
tment liquor.
