S. Lebailli et al., STRUCTURE AND MORPHOLOGY OF M(6)C CARBIDES FORMED BY SOLIDIFICATION IN SOME NICKEL-BASED ALLOYS, Annales de chimie, 19(7-8), 1994, pp. 369-375
The solidification of complex nickel-based hardfacing alloys containin
g large amounts of silicon, chromium and tungsten have been studied. T
he transformation temperature are measured by differential thermal ana
lysis. Quench interrupted directional solidification is employed to es
tablish the solidification sequence. By means of quantitative electron
probe microanalysis, the composition of the carbide (M(7)C(3) and M(6
)C) and boride phases have been determined The numerical simulation of
the temperature during the solidification process allowed to explain
some complex microstructures.
