B. Boubeker et al., STRUCTURE AND WEAR BEHAVIOR OF BODY-CENTERED 304-L STEEL FILMS PREPARED BY ION-BEAM SPUTTERING, Annales de chimie, 19(7-8), 1994, pp. 377-382
304 L stainless steel films were prepared using an ion-beam sputtering
technique and their structure was first investigated using X-ray diff
raction and transmission electron microscopy. It was found to be bcc a
nd nanocrystalline, the grain size being about 10 nm. The determinatio
n of the residual stresses in the films was performed using the sin(2)
Psi method and the result was about -3 GPa. Finally, the wear tests r
evealed a considerable improvement in wear behaviour of the film/304 L
steel substrate system with respect to bulk 304 L steel alone.
