PREPARATION AND EVALUATION OF ORAL CONTROLLED-RELEASED MULTIPLE EMULSION SYSTEM OF NAPROXEN

A controlled release oral drug delivery system of naproxen was develop ed by W/O/W type multiple emulsion technique. Two step emulsification technique was used for formulation of the biphasic emulsion system. Th is system was formulated using hydrocolloids in the external aqueous p hase as thickening agent. The hydrocolloids when used in different pro portion, controlled the release of naproxen, a nonsteroidal anti-infla mmatory analgesic agent from multiple emulsion system. The in-vitro re sults showed a well controlled and higher drug release of naproxen fro m the W/O/W emulsion system.
