A process model proposing that overinvolvement affects job satisfactio n exclusively through its impact on worker burnout was tested. The mod el was supported strongly in both a current sample of social workers a nd an earlier study of helping professionals. Methodological limitatio ns are discussed and implications for practice are examined.
