B. Szajna et Jm. Mackay, PREDICTORS OF LEARNING-PERFORMANCE IN A COMPUTER-USER TRAINING ENVIRONMENT - A PATH-ANALYTIC STUDY, International journal of human-computer interaction, 7(2), 1995, pp. 167-185
A model was developed that incorporates several potential predictors o
f computer-user learning performance in a software training situation.
The predictors in the model are: computer anxiety, computing aptitude
, computing experience, and prior general achievement. The results sho
w that computing aptitude and achievement are related to learning perf
ormance, whereas anxiety and experience are not. Several demographic t
raits of the subjects were also considered but no significant differen
ces were found. Suggestions for future research include the evaluation
of other potential predictors of computer-user learning performance a
nd the assessment of different types of training programs to deal with
differing levels of computing aptitude.
