Abstract
An intuitive presentation and a numerical verification are given of a phenomenon of enhanced normal scattering generated by lacunary grating s that are made by parallel rods. It is shown that the phenomenon can be explained by an interference between primary and multiscattered fie lds scattered by the cylinders when the distance between two arbitrary cylinders is a multiple of the wavelength.
