A UNIFYING APPROACH FOR CONFIDENCE-INTERVALS AND TESTING OF EQUIVALENCE AND DIFFERENCE

General families of null hypotheses are defined which refer to problem s of testing equivalence and difference between treatments. Correspond ing confidence intervals have been proposed in the literature in a dif ferent context. The unifying approach demonstrates how waiving of part icular one-sided tests in the parameter space relates to the construct ion of the corresponding confidence interval.
