Abstract
The paper briefly discusses the view and actions of the Norwegian Gove rnment in relation to environmental protection and development and the minimization of the effects of industry. Governments and supra-nation al bodies, industry, municipal bodies, science and training bodies and voluntary and non-governmental organizations all have a major and int egrated role in protecting the environment. It is emphasized that as m any of the problems are transboundary and trans-sectoral their solutio n requires an intersectoral approach.
