Abstract
The formation of J-aggregates of three polymethine dyes in solutions a nd in Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) polylayers was studied. The dyes form J-a ggregates in mixtures of solvents of different polarity: hexane-chloro form and heptane-chloroform taken in various ratios. The formation of J-aggregates in LB polylayers depends on the type of matrix and on the matrix : dye ratio.
