The aniline intercalation in chemically dehydrated H3OUO2PO4.3H(2)O (H
UP) and H5O2Fe(SO4)(2).2H(2)O(HFe), its protonation and the formation
of oligomers and/or conducting polymers by CuCl contact have been stud
ied by IR absorption, Raman scattering, X ray diffraction, and frequen
cy dependent conductivity. The role of the atmosphere of handling and
of the protons of the host framework are studied. A discussion of the
polymerization mechanism is given.
