We present a simple analytical model describing the equilibrium of a s
tellar filament in the equatorial plane of a rapidly rotating late-typ
e star. We model it as a massive circular current wire under the actio
n of gravity, centrifugal and magnetic forces. On applying the conditi
on of flux freezing the filament is found to be stable until it reache
s large distances from the star or the magnetic field becomes too weak
