The electrical conductivity of (1 - x)PbBr2 . xKBr solid electrolytes
is enhanced on increasing x to x = 0.02. The maximum conductivity, 2.7
x 10(-6) S . cm(-1) at 298 K was obtained for x = 0.02. The transfere
nce number for the Br- ion is almost equal to 1, which was determined
by the Tubandt's method, dc conductivity with Au electrodes, and the e
lectromotive force of a Br-2 gas concentration cell. The Ba-based syst
em, (1 - x)BaBr2 . xKBr solid electrolyte, has a lower conductivity co
mpared with that for the Pb-based system.
