A. Shirkhoda, DIAGNOSTIC PITFALLS IN ABDOMINAL CT RELEVANT TO PERCUTANEOUS INTERVENTIONS, Seminars in interventional radiology, 12(2), 1995, pp. 146-162
The dominant role of computed tomography (CT) in the evaluation of sus
pected abdominal diseases is well established. In spite of the recent
improvements in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound, CT re
mains the most popular and practical diagnostic modality for abdominal
imaging. While the other two modalities may increase the specificity
of some abnormal findings, the utility and accuracy of CT is unsurpass
ed, provided that it is applied using appropriate protocols to avoid m
isdiagnosis leading to erroneous intervention and management. This art
icle deals with diagnostic pitfalls that can help to avoid such proble
ms.
