Abstract
This article corrects, clarifies, and extends results in [5] on inequa lities for sequence rearrangements and for eigenvalues. The prototypes for these results are the inequalities of Hardy, Littlewood, and Poly a about monotonic rearrangements. We examine some analogous results fo r eigenvalues of matrices and of their products.
