AN IC IMPLEMENTATION OF SMPTE RP-165 - ERROR-DETECTION AND HANDLING

As digital video installations become larger and more complex, there i s a growing need to monitor the quality of the numerous serial links m aking up the digital communication infrastructure. The SMPTE has appro ved a method to meet this need in a recent recommended practice, RP 16 5. Commonly called ''Error Detection and Handling (EDH),'' RP 165 desc ribes a means for ensuring the integrity of video audio, and ancillary data transmitted over the serial digital interface (SDI).
