Abstract
Treatment of cyclopropyl-4-hydroxy-4-(2-methylphenyl)piperidine N-oxid e with trifluoroacetic anhydride (TFAA) yields the corresponding descy clopropyl secondary amine in This reaction may serve as a model for th e mechanism based inactivation of monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) by cyclo propylamines which recently has been proposed to proceed via a polar m echanism involving a flavin-amine adduct.
