Abstract
A protocol, based on 'chiron approach', for the synthesis of (-)-colle tol is described, which involves the coupling of two appropriately pro tected hydroxy acids that are derived from D-xylose and macrolactonisa tion of seco-acid under Yamaguchi conditions.
