Abstract
The nucleation of bubbles of a new phase for substances undergoing a f irst order phase transition is studied. The simplifications of Zeldovi ch's formalism are shown to be too crude, especially for small surface tensions and small critical radii. A new similarity number is introdu ced. An exact expression is derived for the nucleation.
