Abstract
Methylene piperazine-2,5-diones 5a and 5b are important synthetic inte rmediates. The preparation as well as the use of these compounds in th e synthesis of amino acid derivatives are described. Our studies demon strate that excellent chiral induction in carbon-carbon bond forming r eactions can be obtained with methylene piperazinedione 5b.
