Gf. Patrick et Ea. Devuyst, WHENCE AND WHITHER IN FARM-MANAGEMENT RISK RESEARCH AND EXTENSION DELIVERY, Canadian journal of agricultural economics, 43(1), 1995, pp. 1-14
There is an explosion of risk-related research in agricultural economi
cs, largely as a result of developments in economic theory, quantitati
ve methods and computer technology over the past 25 years. However, le
ss progress is being made in the application of these methods and resu
lts in producer decision making or extension education programs. This
article reviews some of the developments in risk-related farm manageme
nt research and extension education programs. Some problems and challe
nges in making risk research and extension efforts more relevant and e
ffective for producer decision making are identified. Some suggestions
for future research and extension activities are also indicated.
