A Monte Carlo code, suited for nuclear astrophysics experiments, is de
scribed. The code has been developed in the frame of the LUNA pilot pr
oject at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso. An accurate evaluati
on of ion energy and angular straggling, and Doppler broadening has be
en implemented, which are important at subCoulomb energies. The consid
ered effects are compared with experimental data.
