T. Detzel et al., MAGNETISM AND STRUCTURE OF ULTRATHIN FE CU(001) FROM SPIN-POLARIZED APPEARANCE-POTENTIAL SPECTROSCOPY/, Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials, 147(1-2), 1995, pp. 1-6
The magnetic and structural properties of the thin-film system Fe/Cu(0
01) were investigated by spin-polarized and conventional appearance-po
tential spectroscopy. The spin asymmetry of the measured signal provid
es direct information on the target magnetization and anisotropy with
high surface sensitivity. The line shape is sensitive to the crystal s
tructure of the films. The present work demonstrates the direct correl
ation of magnetism and structure in this puzzling thin-film system by
means of a single measurement.
