Abstract
The present paper describes a method suitable for simultaneous determi nation of the total nitrogen content and the ratio of the stable N-iso topes ((NN)-N-15-N-14) from solid samples (soil, plants, ammonium salt s, etc.). A Carlo Erba C/N/S analyser was coupled to a microwave induc ed plasma - optical emission spectrometer (MIP-OES) detector. The prec ision of the N-15 atom% determination was 3.9% in the 1-8 atom% N-15 r ange, while the accuracy of the total N measurements was 1 to 10% in t he 200-1000 mu g N range.
