Milk fever or parturient hypocalcaemia is a metabolic disease occuring
most commonly about the time of parturition in adult females and is c
haracterized by hypocalcaemia, changes in neuro-muscular tone, recumbe
ncy circulatory collapse and diminution of consciousness (Chakrabarti,
1988). It is a most common condition in high yielding dairy cows. But
, occasional cases may occur in ewes, does and sows (Blood and Radosti
ts, 1989; Banerjee, 1988). The present communication reports a case of
milk fever in an Osmanabadi goat.
