Sarcoptic mange caused by Sarcoptes scabiei is a serious contagious de
rmatological disease in goats which is of economic and zoonotic signif
icance (Prasad, 1984). Goats usually suffer from severe form of sarcop
tic mange with extensive skin lesions accompanied by ill health, debil
ity and emaciation (Chatterjee, 1989). The present study was therefore
undertaken to elucidate the histochemistry of Sarcoptes scabiei infes
ted skin of experimental Black Bengal goats.
