Abstract
With the continuously growing number of MRI examinations and the enorm ous speed with which new technological developments are being implemen ted patient monitoring and safety are becoming increasingly important issues, which MRI system producers and lawmakers have taken into consi deration only to a limited extent. Therefore, institutions that operat e MRI units have had to solve these problems on their own. For forensi c reasons at least a monitoring concept should be developed with suita ble equipment and careful documentation in every institution that oper ates an MRI unit. This article proposes how to plan and conduct adequa te patient monitoring during MRI examinations.
