Abstract
As-synthesized ERB-1 borosilicate has a bi-dimensional layered structu re, and the three-dimensional (3D) microporous structure is formed aft er calcination at 270 degrees C. X-Ray powder diffraction (XRD), tempe rature-programmed desorption (TPD) and Si-29 magic-angle spinning nucl ear magnetic resonance (MAS NMR) analyses demonstrated that the format ion of the 3D ordered structure occurs through the condensation of sil anol groups present on the surfaces of the layers. As-synthesized ERB- 1 displays intercalation properties towards polar molecules such as et hylene glycol, isopropanol and [2,2,2]-azabicyclooctane.
