S. Katznelson et Ah. Wilkinson, HMGCOA REDUCTASE INHIBITORS AND OMEGA-3-FATTY-ACIDS AS ADJUNCTIVE AGENTS IN MAINTENANCE IMMUNOSUPPRESSION AFTER SOLID-ORGAN TRANSPLANTATION, Clinical transplantation, 9(3), 1995, pp. 197-200
Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to play a role in preventing the d
evelopment of both acute and chronic rejection. New evidence also sugg
ests that HMGCoA reductase inhibitors may have an immunomodulatory eff
ect and may decrease the incidence of rejection in both animal and hum
an transplant models. Omega-3 fatty acids and HMGCoA reductase inhibit
ors may be important adjunctive agents in improving short- and long-te
rm allograft function.
