Abstract
Charge exchange spectroscopy of fusion plasmas relies on an accurate k nowledge of state selective electron capture cross sections. Here we d iscuss the gathering and evaluation of such cross sections, with empha sis on electron capture by He2+ and C6+. The influence of metastable a toms on the plasma diagnostics by means of visible light charge exchan ge spectroscopy is recognized and treated.
