Jm. Carrillo et al., VULNERABLE PERSONALITY IN DEPRESSION - INVESTIGATING COMMONALITY IN THE SEARCH FOR UNIFICATION, European journal of psychological assessment, 12(3), 1996, pp. 202-211
The present paper examines three models of personality and behavior -
the dispositional approach, rep resented by the CEP questionnaire (Pin
illos), the adjustment approach (represented by the Bell questionnaire
) and the behavioral approach (represented by the PES scale of Macphyl
lamy and Lewinsohn) - with respect to the prediction of depression. Th
e specific results show that variables from the first two are good pre
dictors of depression and that the PES scale from the behavioral appro
ach is a weaker predictor. Second, the position is taken that there ar
e unrecognized relationships among different psychological tests and t
he present study investigates such relationships among the three scale
s as they are used in the prediction of depression. The relationships
found ore analyzed in a unifying theory that calls For additional stud
ies of the interrelationships of tests in prediction for the purpose o
f organizing the field's excessive diversity in tests and theories and
of elaborating the theory.
