Methods have been developed for automatic on-line monitoring that are
ready to be implemented in an industrial plant for ammonium thiosulpha
te production. The three main goals of this research were: (a) develop
ment of methods for monitoring major components in the production proc
ess, namely 60% ammonium sulphite (AS) and ammonium thiosulphate (ATS)
at the reactor inlet and outlet, respectively; (b) development of a m
ethod for the determination of a minor component at the reactor outlet
(0.7% AS) in the presence of a high concentration of ATS (60%); (c) f
ull automation of the overall system.
