Abstract
The value of ultrasonographic examination in the diagnosis of congenit al portosytemic shunts was assessed in 36 dogs, using the right latera l approach, The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy were 0.74, 1.0, and 0.86 respectively, The conclusion is that ultrasonography is high ly specific and reasonably sensitive in diagnosing congenital portosys temic shunts in dogs.
