This paper deals with the study and the modelling of a piezoelectric s
ensor used with an electronic system for the current measurement of an
electric motor. Thus it has to deliver an electromotive force proport
ional to the square of the motor supply current. The strain of a thin
piezoelectric plate glued onto a metallic plate is used. This latter u
ndergoes an electromagnetic stress proportional to the square of the s
upplied current of the motor. Analytical and finite element modelling
were developed and compared to experimental results.
