Abstract
A method based on the detection of x- and low energy gamma-radiation f or determining the activity of plutonium and americium-241 in soils an d sediments is described. The results of x- and gamma-radiation spectr al measurements are presented. Possible ways to increase the sensitivi ty of the method are discussed. The results of measurements of alpha-p article activity distributions with solid state nuclear track detector s for depth profiling of different types of soils are also presented.
