Poly(methyl methacrylate) [PMMA], Bisphenol A polycarbonate [BAPC] and
its blends of different weight compositions irradiated under static v
acuum conditions, were investigated by UV spectroscopy and gel permeat
ion chromatography. Analysis indicated that photolysis of PMMA is reta
rded by blending with BAPC. This effect is attributed to photo product
s formed in the BAPC, most probably due to Fries rearrangement, that r
educes the photodegradation of PMMA.
