Jc. Misra et al., LAMINAR BOUNDARY-LAYER FLOW OF A NEWTONIAN FLUID THROUGH A CURVED PIPE - SOME APPLICATIONS TO ARTERIAL FLOW DYNAMICS, International journal of engineering science, 32(12), 1994, pp. 1997-2010
Of concern in this paper is a study of the steady laminar flow of an i
ncompressible viscous Newtonian fluid in a curved circular tube. It is
assumed that the flow consists of a frictionless central core region
surrounded by a thin boundary-layer. Analytical expressions for the bo
undary-layer thickness, mean axial velocity and frictional resistance
of the flow are derived. Using the derived expressions, numerical resu
lts have also been computed. They are presented in a form suitable for
practical use.
