C. Domoney et al., INHERITANCE OF QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE TRYPSIN-INHIBITOR VARIANTS IN PISUM, Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 89(4), 1994, pp. 387-391
A trypsin inhibitor locus (Tri) has been mapped close to Vc-2 on Pisum
(pea) linkage group 5 using recombinant inbred lines derived from cro
sses of genotypes showing qualitative variation in seed trypsin inhibi
tors. F-2 seed populations derived from crosses between lines showing
qualitative variation in trypsin inhibitors as well as quantitative va
riation in inhibitor activity showed an association between the segreg
ation of the structural variation and relative activity levels. Clones
complementary to Pisum trypsin inhibitor mRNA were used in hybridizat
ion analyses which showed that the segregation of protein polymorphism
s reflected directly the segregation of polymorphisms associated with
the structural genes.
