D. Bogdal et J. Pielichowski, APPLICATION OF TRICHLOROETHYLENE AS THE PRECURSOR OF DICHLOROACETYLENE UNDER PTC CONDITIONS, Polish Journal of Chemistry, 68(11), 1994, pp. 2439-2449
Trichloroethylene easily forms trichlorovinyl anion and then dichloroa
cetylene under PTC conditions. Owing to the transformation of trichlor
oethylene to dichloroacetylene, we can react it with nucleophilic reag
ents under mild conditions. Under PTC conditions trichloroethylene rea
cts with aliphatic amines and heterocyclic compounds (e.g., imidazole,
pyrazole, and carbazole) to form amides and dichlorovinyl derivatives
, respectively. The mechanism of the reactions is discussed in the pap
er.
