Abstract
This article reviews the state of the art of continuous silicon carbid e fibers for reinforcing titanium matrices, including fibers produced in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine. A new coating s ystem has been developed, based on compliant layer and thermodynamic c onsiderations, which significantly enhances the behavior of SiC/Ti met al-matrix composites.
