P. Petelenz, VIBRONIC COUPLING WITH LOW-FREQUENCY VIBRATIONS IN QUASI-FORBIDDEN FRENKEL EXCITON-STATES, Chemical physics letters, 229(4-5), 1994, pp. 439-442
A simple dimer model is used to demonstrate that in weakly allowed Fre
nkel exciton states, where the factor-group splitting is largely due t
o charge transfer interactions, the exciton-phonon coupling constant m
ay be considerably different for the two Davydov components. The model
is applied to the SI transition of the naphthalene crystal and sugges
ts a smaller Davydov splitting than normally assumed (60 cm(-1) rather
than 150 cm(-1)).
