Ms. Sidhu et al., PHOTOCHEMICAL REDUCTION OF URANYL-ION WITH TRIETHYLAMINE, Journal of radioanalytical and nuclear chemistry, 187(5), 1994, pp. 375-383
Uranyl ion is photochemically reduced to uranium(IV) in the presence o
f triethylamine and triethylamine is oxidized to secondary amine and a
cetaldehyde. On the basis of product analysis, temperature independent
quantum yields for uranium(IV) formation and abnormal Stern-Volmer pl
ots rule out the simple collisional photochemical annihilation of exci
ted uranyl ion with triethylamine. Static annihilation has a significa
nt contribution in addition to dynamic annihilation.
