Abstract
We report the first measurement of the distribution function of the fl uctuations on the total transmission of multiple scattered light. The shape of the distribution is predominantly Gaussian. A non-Gaussian co ntribution to the distribution function is found, caused by correlatio n in the cubed intensity. The scattering diagrams responsible for this new correlation are calculated without free parameters, and a good ag reement is found between experiment and theory.
