B. Isoard et al., HEPATIC ANGIOMYOLIPOMA - RADIOLOGIC AND HISTOLOGIC-FINDINGS, European journal of gastroenterology & hepatology, 6(11), 1994, pp. 1063-1065
Objectives: To describe a case of hepatic angiomyolipoma and to attemp
t to develop a diagnostic and therapeutic strategy for these hepatic l
esions, which are usually asymptomatic and discovered by accident. Pat
ient: A 57-year-old asymptomatic woman hospitalized for evaluation of
a hepatic lesion. Methods: Radiologic evaluation, including ultrasound
tomography, tomographic scanning and nuclear magnetic resonance imagi
ng. The diagnosis was confirmed by histology. Results: Hepatic angiomy
olipoma was diagnosed. Conclusion: This case illustrates the problem o
f benign hepatic tumour diagnosis, which has become increasingly frequ
ent with the widespread use of ultrasound tomography. Histologic confi
rmation of hepatic tumour diagnosis may no longer be necessary.
