Abstract
A stability analysis of the two solutions of the extended local mixing -length theory (Umezu & Nakakita) has been performed. It is found that the gamma1-convection is stable while the gamma2-convection is unstab le with the ordinarily accepted values of parameters. By linear stabil ity analysis, it can be shown that the maximum DELTA(mu) in stable con vection is smaller than the value previously given by us and hence tha n the Ledoux-Sakashita-Hayashi criterion.
