W. Krolikowski, A POSSIBLE UNITARITY DEFECT OF THE S-MATRIX, Nuovo cimento della Società Italiana di Fisica. A. Nuclei, particles and fields, 107(9), 1994, pp. 1759-1766
The familiar analogy in the quantum theory between the time evolution
of an isolated system and the thermal equilibrium of a system with a t
hermostat or heat reservoir leads us to the hypothesis of a ''temporal
equilibrium'' of any so-called isolated system with the physical spac
e-time. Small virtual deviations from such an equilibrium imply a non-
unitarity extension of the quantum state equation giving a tiny unitar
ity defect of the S-matrix.
